International Tropical Summer Course 2021

Traditional Fisheries and Technology in Indonesia for Sustainability Eco-development

oleh admin | 1 Juli 2021

FPIK, SEMARANG – The International tropical summer course, abbreviated as ITroSCo, is a summer course organized by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP). This summer course has been held since 2019 with the theme “Tropical Conservation, Culture, and Eco-Tourism”.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, the ITroSCo 2020 was held online with the theme “Tropical Utilization, Conservation, and Sustainability”. Around 22 students from the USA, Malaysia, China, Bangladesh, Japan, Germany, Egypt, India, Guatemala, Madagascar, Romania, and Colombia attended the summer course in 2020.

This year, the theme is “Traditional Fisheries and Technology in Indonesia for Sustainability Eco-development”. We choose this theme because Indonesia is considered multi-ethnic and multi-culture, which benefits the fishermen to capture and culture the fish. In addition, some districts use the Indonesian culture to preserve the marine ecosystem. Therefore, this summer course aims to show the participants how Indonesian culture affects fish capture and culture. Several experts from Universitas Diponegoro and Partner Universities from Japan and the USA will deliver the subject. The ITroSCo 2021 will be held from August 18 – September 1, 2021.

Moreover, you will have an opportunity to discuss with the experts from Universitas Diponegoro, Japan, and the USA universities. In addition, you can also join the virtual concert, virtual tour in Semarang city, Fishermen Community areas, Karimun Jawa Islands, and virtual practice on the traditional fish culture and fish products processing.

Therefore, we cordially invite the interested international students (undergraduate, graduate, postgraduates), post-doctoral students, lecturers, and practitioners to participate in this summer course. This year’s summer course will be held in the online course system MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and ZOOM. The registration starts from June 1 to July 21, 2021.
