FPIK, SEMARANG – WorldInvent Singapore 22+23 (WoSG) is a gathering attended by technology enthusiasts, inventors, and innovators of all ages. This activity takes the form of an exhibition of discoveries and innovations, which displays new ideas, new products, and new approaches.
Indonesia also participated in this activity through students from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (FPIK Undip), including Rafi Zulmy Saputra, Supo Friza Rendishatara, and Aulia Rasyad Aqila Hernanda. This prestigious contest was held at DMarquee, Downtown East, in the Republic of Singapore between September 4 and 6, 2023. This year, FPIK Undip students succeeded in winning a silver medal with the presentation of the work “Multi-Purpose Modular Data Collector for Conducting Underwater Research”.

WorldInvent TM 22+23 The Singapore International Invention Show (WoSG) is organized by the Innovation Design & Entrepreneurship Association (IDEA), the international body for the promotion of invention and innovation. More than 300 academics from various countries participated in this year’s contest. Their discoveries and innovative works were exhibited both online and on site. More than 20 countries participated, such as Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Malaysia, Indonesia, Qatar, the Republic of China, Vietnam, and Thailand. (Adm)

Kalirejo, Pekalongan (21/07/2023) – Indonesia has the highest fish production in ASEAN. Unfortunately, this is not shown by the level of fish consumption, especially among children. In 2004, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries issued a program, namely GEMARIKAN (Gerakan Memasyarakatkan Makan Ikan). However, there are still many people who do not know about it. Therefore, a contribution is needed between the community and the government in campaigning the importance of early fish consumption for health.
Fish is one of the food sources that is high in nutrients. The nutrients include high protein, omega 3, unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12. The nutrients contained in fish are beneficial for protecting eyesight, preventing senile dementia, and improving intelligence. Not only that, fish is more affordable than other animal protein sources. Therefore, fish is highly recommended to be consumed from an early age.
Students of Team II KKN Diponegoro University 2023 held a counseling on GEMARIKAN as an Early Nutrition Needs Improvement which took place at SDN 1 Kalirejo on Friday, July 21, 2023. This activity lasted for 1 hour and was attended by 47 students consisting of 4th and 5th grades.
This activity was carried out by delivering several materials, including the meaning of GEMARIKAN, nutritional content in fish, the benefits of eating fish, reasons for choosing fish, types of fish that can be consumed and examples of processed fish products. During the activity, students of SDN 1 Kalirejo looked enthusiastic in listening and actively participated in answering the questions that had been given. In addition to the delivery of material, it is also interspersed with fun games and the provision of processed fish products, namely otak-otak.
KKN Diponegoro University students also handed over and attached posters about GEMARIKAN in the school’s information board. This activity is expected to motivate students to consume fish regularly and advance the fisheries sector.

Kalirejo, Pekalongan (21/07/2023) – Waste is a material that is wasted or can no longer be utilized. The waste comes from daily human activities or from natural processes. Waste problems must be quickly handled by the Indonesian Government and the community because waste causes enormous losses for human life and aquatic ecosystems. According to the World population, Indonesia is ranked 5th as the largest waste producer in the world, which is 9.13 million tons. The waste is dominated by plastic waste.
The existing waste problem can be minimized with correct and simple management. This can be done by any age from children to adults. Waste awareness can maintain aquatic ecosystems, especially the biota in them. Therefore, it is very necessary to work on waste awareness from an early age. Diponegoro University students held counseling on the importance of disposing of waste properly. The activity was held at SDN 1 Kalirejo on Friday, July 21, 2023. This activity lasted for 1 hour and was attended by 47 students consisting of 4th and 5th grades.
This counseling activity was carried out by delivering material related to waste, including the definition of waste, the origin of waste, types of waste, the impact of waste on human life and aquatic ecosystems, and waste management efforts. In the implementation of the activity, the enthusiasm of students of SDN 1 Kalirejo was seen. This is shown by active participation in answering the questions that have been given. Students who asked questions received wallets made from recycled waste, namely plastic coffee packets. This is done to motivate students to start managing waste into useful items.

Remarks by the Dean of FPIK Undip, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D.
The Young Diponegoro Orientation activity of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science Undip was held offline starting Monday (14/08) and was attended by 687 undergraduate students. 110 students from the aquatic resource management study program, 103 students from the aquaculture study program, 88 students from the technology fisheries product study program, 65 students from the capture fisheries study program, 161 students from the marine science study program, and 160 students from the oceanography study program. The event began with remarks by the chairman of ODM FPIK 2023, the chairman of BEM FPIK, and the Dean of FPIK, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D as well as pinning the participant’s card as a symbolic symbol of official acceptance of students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Diponegoro University. In addition, she also introduced the structural officials of the Faculty, Head of Department, and Head of Study Program.
At the end of her remarks, the Dean of FPIK closed with the jargon “Kolaborasi untuk meraih prestasi” as part of encouragement of the beginning of the activity. She also introduced three new students of FPIK who became the team of attribute receiving troops during the Undip new student admission ceremony 2023 on last Friday (11/08).

The theme carried out at ODM FPIK UNDIP this year is ” Ciptakan kolaborasi, bersama FPIK wujudkan empati untuk laut Indonesia”. ODM FPIK Undip is a means to instill adaptive, collaborative, empathy and responsibility values for new students. This event took place for six days in the auditorium and building D of FPIK Undip.
In this activity, new students are introduced to the scope and system of higher education, especially Diponegoro University, which is the first step to start looking for their potential as a millennial generation by developing good character and ethics, so that they can represent those values in the environment and prevent disasters. New students certainly get material exposure that greatly supports this, namely related to the introduction of the scope and system of higher education, the role of millennials in the life of the nation, student ethics in lectures, as well as the environment and disasters alertness. After each presentation of each material, it was continued with Q&As and discussion sessions with new students.
ODM FPIK Undip 2023 was implemented and run successfully thanks to the collaboration between new students of FPIK Undip with the committee and management. The existence of ODM FPIK Undip activities in 2023 is expected to be beneficial for all parties.

The International Tropical Summer Course (ITroSCo) I – 2023 (August 1 to 12, 2023), organized by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Diponegoro, presented a heartwarming scene in the midst of the celebration of the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. In the spirit of unity and togetherness, participants from different parts of the world participated and played in variety of fun activities.
The 24 ITroSCo participants came from 14 countries and several continents, including the ASEAN countries – the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Brunei – to Timor Leste, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Cameroon, Gambia, United States, Uganda, Mauritius and Côte d’Ivoire, all united in the spirit of friendship to commemorate Indonesia’s Independence Day.
The event did not only offer knowledge but also exciting entertainment through various Indonesian traditional games. For instance, the cracker-eating contest, where participants tried to eat crackers hung high on ropes without touching them which brought laughter and a spirit of competition.
Other competitions such as egg and spoon race, sack race and putting a spoon in a bottle brought out immense joy and enthusiasm within the participants.
The ITroSCo participants who participated in this activity are active international students from various foreign universities such as Srinakharinwirot University, University of the Philippines Visayas, Nanyang Technological University, Boston University, and University of Mauritius, as well as local universities in Indonesia such as Udinus Semarang, Amikom University Yogyakarta, UMY, UII, and Unsoed, all of whom were present in full spirit.
This event was a concrete proof that togetherness between nations and cultures can create unforgettable moments. They supported each other, laughed together and united in the spirit of celebrating independence and friendship.
In an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm, the participants of the International Tropical Summer Course 2023 showed that independence is a call to celebrate and build a better future together.

FPIK, SEMARANG – Fish farming has become the main choice in the fisheries sector, but the challenges of increasingly limited land and water resources often become an obstacle. Etc. Kutorejo, District Kajen (2 August 2023) In an effort to overcome these obstacles, the innovation of fish farming in buckets emerged as an attractive alternative. Training on cultivating fish in buckets was held by Diponegoro University KKN Team II to encourage the creativity of Kutorejo Village residents, especially housewives, and open up new opportunities for economic development.

Fish farming in buckets is known as fish farming in containers or limited tanks, which is a fish farming method where fish are kept in small containers such as ponds. This method is often used when land or water resources are limited, making it impossible to cultivate fish on a large scale. Fish are provided with an adequate environment for their growth and development. The buckets used are generally equipped with a filtration and aeration system to maintain good water quality. However, it is different from the budikdamber carried out by Diponegoro University KKN Team II, which uses catfish.
Catfish are considered suitable for cultivation in buckets due to several reasons, such as wide environmental tolerance, growth rate, varied diet, flexible environmental management, suitable body size, and availability of seeds. Catfish seeds are very easy to get because there are many markets. The low need for oxygen made Undip Team II KKN students choose catfish for the work program. However, despite its advantages in cultivating catfish, it is still important to pay attention to water quality, proper feeding, and good care to ensure the optimal growth and health of catfish.
Training on Fish Cultivation in Buckets begins with providing basic material related to maintenance, feeding, and others. After providing clear materials, we will continue with the procedures for making cultivation containers with buckets. The equipment needed to carry out this training is affordable and easy to obtain. The procedure is carried out using a container with holes in the bottom for draining dirty water and the lid of the bucket for airing the fish. Undip KKN Team II students carried out two types of fish cultivation in buckets. The first type of container is only for cultivating catfish, while the second type of container can be accompanied by semi-hydroponic planting at the top of the bucket by planting kale.
The socialization activity closed with the giving of door prizes. At the start of the event, each training participant was given a lottery number and a photo with all the PKK mothers, Posyandu Cadre Mothers, RT/RW Mothers, other housewives, and Undip Team II KKN students. It is hoped that this program will be useful and also improve the economy of Kutorejo Village families with the results of fish cultivation in buckets, which can be sold or consumed by households. The Tracer Study Workshop will be held on 15-17 June 2023 at the Grand Mercure Solo. In this event FPIK bought up several categories at the Diponegoro University Tracer Study Strengthening Workshop Semester 1 of 2023 FPIK won 3 Faculties with the highest achievement (45, 74%) FPIK won 1st place for the Faculty with the highest increase (26.98%) Fishery Product Technology 3rd Place in Study Program with Highest Achievement (66, 67%) Capture Fisheries Champion 2 Study Program with the Highest Increase in IKU 1 (51.06 %) Fisheries Product Technology Champion 1 Study Program with the Highest Increase in IKU 1 (60, 48%).

Expertise diving is a subject in the Undergraduate Study Program (S1) of Marine Sciences. This course studies the application of diving knowledge to various activities such as Scientific and Research Dive. Scientific Diving can be defined as a diving activity for various scientific purposes, such as underwater observation, underwater measurement, underwater data collection, underwater sampling, and underwater image/video capture. The application of scientific diving can be used by various fields, such as marine biologists, marine geologists, marine archaeologists, marine technology and instrumentation.
The output of this course is that students get certificates as Intermediate Scientific Divers and Basic Scientific Divers. The purpose of this certification is to add value and improve the quality of Marine Science student resources, especially as a scientific and research diver and increase awareness of the importance of environmental conservation. This certification activity is supported by the Department of Marine Sciences and the Association of Diving Schools Indonesia (ADS-I) and is carried out by a lecturer in the 2023 Skills Diving course, namely Dr. Ir. Munasik, M.Sc. and Dr. Agus Trianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.
During the field implementation, this certification activity was led directly by Bonifacius Arbanto, S. T., M. Si. as a diving instructor from ADS-I. This certification activity was carried out from 5 – 11 June 2023 with a total of 31 students participating from the Marine Science Undergraduate Study Program. This certification activity took place in Karimunjawa with several different dive spots, starting from Menjangan Kecil Island, Menyawakan Island and Galean Island.
For Basic Scientific Diver, the material being tested is how to apply the Manta Tow method to quickly assess coral reef ecosystems. As for the Intermediate Scientific Diver, the material being tested is the implementation of the Point Intercept Transect (PIT) method to assess the health of coral reef ecosystems as well as Monitoring Artificial Patch Reef (APR) which includes measuring the length of coral transplants, coral recruitment measures, fish and megabenthos data collection, and a review was also carried out on the physical condition of the APR building itself. The purpose of testing several methods of assessing coral reef ecosystems is to improve environmental conservation, especially in marine ecosystems.

Diana Rachmawati, M.Si., Dr. Ir. Istiyanto Samidjan, M.S., and Ristiawan Agung Nugroho, S.Pi., M.Sc. conduct a community service program by introducing the program for Making Meatballs and Nuggets from Catfish and Vegetable Cultivation (BULEYUR) in buckets (4/6).
Small and Medium Enterprises Partners (UKM)/Fish Farming Group (Pokdakan) Siwarak Mina Sejahtera is an UKM/Pokdakan located in Blanten Hamlet, Nyatnyono Village, Semarang Regency which is a partner in this Undip FPIK Grant funding program. Based on the results of the visit, the Fish Farmers Group (Pokdakan) is engaged in catfish farming. The lack of knowledge to utilize it into ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products is what makes Dr. Diana Chilmawati and the Team did community service in the area.
The program that is focused on this year as an output target is increasing the added value of catfish products from Budidamber results at the Siwarak Mina Sejahtera Pokdakan, Nyatnyono Village, West Ungaran District, Semarang Regency. Training and mentoring is carried out continuously by the service team with face-to-face meetings. The service activity began with the counseling process for making catfish nuggets and meatballs followed by direct practice by the business partners of the Siwarak Mina Sejahtera Fish Farming Group (Pokdakan). In addition, the service team conducted outreach and assistance in the form of creating Shopee, Facebook, Instagram, Tik-Tok Shop accounts for the sale of M-GOOD FISH products. In addition, the grant provided by the Community Service Team to pokdakan partners is in the form of a food processor to make it easier for partners to continue the business of making catfish meatballs and nuggets from catfish and vegetable cultivation in buckets which has been carried out so that the added value of catfish products is increased at a price of IDR 25,000/day kg to Rp. 110,000/kg.

FPIK Undip Jaya!. The World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE) is an international event that showcases the innovative work of young inventors from various countries around the world. This event provides an opportunity for young inventors to showcase their inventions, share ideas, and compete with other young inventors.
WYIE 2023 will be held on 11-13 May 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia. More than 730 inventions from 19 countries and regions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, UAE, China, Philippines, Bangladesh, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Australia, USA, Laos, Vietnam, Oman, Ireland take part in this competition.
The delegation team from Diponegoro University consisted of 4 members from different faculties. Rafi Zulmy Saputra, Frans Febrio Siagian, dan Revinda Aradea Adat is a student from the Undip FPIK Capture Fisheries Department, while Supo Firza Rendishatara is a student from the Faculty of Law, with Kukuh Eko Prihantoko, S.Pi., M.Si. guidance winning a gold medal at the event with the innovation title “Multi-purpose Portable Data Collector for Conducting Underwater Research based on Artificial Intelligence Of Things (AIoT)” in the Agriculture category.
